Feel Fine February – Make your body feel good with Yoga and Workouts

The first three posts of my Feel-Fine-February were about nutrition: there is a recipe for a yummy Detox-Drink, Energy Bliss Balls as a healthy snack and 2 alternatives for cow milk.

Of course, feeling fine is not only about food – that’s why today I have a great way for you, to feel relaxed, fit and balanced!
During the last 2 years I was working mostly in the office – and I paid for my bad position in front of the computer! I had backpain at least two times a month and sometimes my shoulders and my neck were that tense that this caused also a terrible headache. Are you nodding? Do you know these problems yourself? I am convinced of that, as backpain is becoming a widespread disease and around 50% of the European population suffered from it during the last 12 months!

Natürlich dreht sich “Wohlfühlen” an sich nicht nur um die Ernährung – deswegen gibt es heute eine tolle Idee für euch, gleichzeitig entspannt, fit und ausgeglichen zu sein!
In den letzten 2 Jahren habe ich hauptsächlich im Büro gearbeitet – und ich habe für meine schlechte Haltung vor dem Computer bezahlt! Mindestens zwei mal im Monat hatte ich Rückenschmerzen und manchmal waren meine Schultern und mein Nacken so verspannt, dass ich davon grässliche Kopfschmerzen bekommen habe. Nickst du gerade? Kennst du diese Probleme auch? Ich bin überzeugt davon, denn Rückenschmerzen werden zu Volkskrankheit und ca. 50% der Europäer klagte in den letzten 12 Monaten darüber!

I was a part of these 50% … until the day I found the HappyAndFit-Channels on Youtube! Since I do their exercises for the back and the nek my problems disappeared! The guys of this channel create fantastic videos for EVERYTHING, not only back pain! Fitness, Pilates, Dance, Yoga … everybody will find a way of workout there, that he or she likes!

Ich habe zu diesen 50% gehört … bis zu dem Tag, an dem ich die HappyAndFit-Channels auf Youtube gefunden habe! Seitdem ich einige der Übungen regelmäßig mache sind meine Rücken- und Nackenprobleme verschwunden! Es gibt auf den diversen Kanälen fantastische Videos für ALLES, nicht nur für den Rücken! Fitness, Pilates, Tanzen, Yoga … hier findet jeder ein Workout, das er mag!

My favourite one is the HappyAndFit-Yoga-Channel. It gives me the chance to stretch my body, to strenghten the muscles of my shoulders and neck (and also other parts of the body) and to relax in the same time! I really like the atmosphere they create in their videos! The videos have an average duration of 20 – 30 minutes, so I think it is possible for everybody to integrate the exercises into the everyday life. There are even some “quickies” for days, when you do not have a lot of time. Here we go with some of my favourites:

Mein absoluter Favorit ist der HappyAndFit-Yoga-Channel. Mit den Programmen kann ich meinen Körper dehnen, die Schulter- und Nackenmuskeln kräftigen und gleichzeitig entspannen! Ich mag besonders die Atmosphäre der Videos, man fühlt sich sofort wohl! Die Programme dauern durchschnittlich 20 – 30 Minuten und ich denke die kann man ohne große Probleme in den Alltag einbauen! Es gibt sogar einige Kurzprogramme für Tage, an denen die Zeit knapp ist. Lange rede kurzer Sinn – schaut euch doch einfach ein paar meiner Favoriten selbst an:

In den ersten 2 Videos die ich euch empfehlen möchte, geht es um mein (ehemaliges) Problem, den Rücken sowie Schultern und Nacken. Seit ich diese Übungen jeden zweiten Tag mache, habe ich keine Probleme mehr, einfach super!

Sometimes, I want to do a more exhausting workout – no problem, here we go! I can assure you, that you will have a lot of muscle ache after the first times you do these exercises!!

Manchmal habe ich Lust auf ein anstrengederes Programm – kein Problem! Ich kann euch versichern, dass ihr in den ersten Tagen einen schönen Muskelkater haben werdet!

Feel Fine February – Alternative Milk {Recipe: Hafermilch & Reismilch}

First of all: No, I do not have a lactose intolerance. I just tried soy milk some time ago as I was curious about the taste and I loved it from the first sip! I really like it’s flavour and it absolutely is my favourite for overnight oats, oatmeal and crereals in the morning. After some time I recognized though, that it is the soy milk that caused my stomach ache!! Yes, really … it seems that I have an intolerance for soy milk :( I never heard of this, but when I did not drink it for a week my belly was ok so … I think I am the only person in the whole wide world with this intolerance, haha!

Zu allererst: Nein, ich habe keine Laktoseintoleranz. Ich habe vor einiger Zeit Sojamilch ausprobiert, einfach aus Neugier über den Geschmack und ich habe sie vom ersten Schluck an geliebt! Ich mag den leicht vanilligen Geschmack sehr, vor allem für Overnight-Oats, Frühstücks-Haferflocken und Müsli. Nach einiger Zeit habe ich jedoch festgestellt, dass ich immer häufiger Bauchschmerzen hatte und nach einigen Wochen Ausschlussdiät habe ich leider leider feststellen müssen, dass es an der Sojamilch lag! Ja, wirklich … ich habe eine Sojamilch-Intoleranz! :( Ich habe noch nie von so etwas gehört … ich glaube ich der einzige Mensch in der  weiten Welt der eine Intoleranz auf Sojamilch hat, haha!

Oat-Rice-Milk-Recipe

As I really liked the flavour of the soy milk, I searched for an alternative when I recognized the intolerance as I did not want to go back to normal milk for breakfast. And what can I say, I found even more than one alternative!! I do not know if it was only me not knowing nothing about these kinds of milk and maybe you will be bored as you knew about it already for years … but for me it was absolutely new, that you can make milk out of oats and rice!
And when I read the recipes here, I was beside myself with joy – it’s that fast and easy!! The only things I changed from the original recipe are the amounts (as I am the only person at home drinking it I used half of the amounts) and the sugar – I just did not add it at all. Let’s have a look on the recipes, it will not take you more than 30 minutes and I also think that you will have all ingredients at home!

Da ich den Geschmack von Sojamilch wirklich lecker finde und ich nicht zu “normaler” Milche zurückkehren wollte, habe ich angefangen nach einer Alternative zu suchen. Und was soll ich sagen? Ich habe sogar mehr als eine Alternative gefunden! Ich weiß nicht ob es nur an mir vorbei gegangen ist und ihr vielleicht schon seit Jahren bescheid wisst … aber für mich war es wirklich komplett neu, dass man aus Haferflocken und Reis Milch machen kann!
Als ich dann das Rezept von hier gelesen habe, gab es kein Halten mehr – es geht so schnell und einfach!! Die einzigen Dinge die ich ein wenig abgeändert habe sind die Mengen (da ich die einzige Person zu Hause bin die die Milch trinkt, habe ich die Mengen halbiert) und den Zucker – den habe ich schlicht und einfach weggelassen. Schaut euch die nachfolgenden Rezepte an: sie dauern nicht länger als 30 Minuten und die Zutaten habt ihr sicher alle schon zu Hause!

Rice-Milk-Recipe-Ingredients

1:     Put half a glass of rice (or even one glass, depending on the amount you want to make) into a pot. Add one glass of water – the water has to be twice the amount of rice you used. Bring it to a boil and cook untill the rice is done, ca. 15 minutes.

       Gib ein halbes Glas Reis (je nachdem wieviel Milche du machen möchtest aknnst du auch ein ganz volles Glas verwenden) mit einem vollen Glas Wasser in einen Topf – es muss zweimal soviel Wasser wie Reis im Topf sein. Bringe das Wasser zum Kochen und lass den Reis ca. 15 Minuten köcheln bis er gar ist.

2:     Remove the pot from the cooker and add one more glass of water and using a hand mixer, blend it all until smooth. As it has to be well-blended, do it for at least 3 minutes.

       Nimm den Topf vom Herd und gebe ein weiteres Glas Wasser zum Reis. Püriere die Mischung mithilfe eines Stabmixers bis sich eine einheitliche Masse bildet, mindestens 3 Minuten.

3:     Strain the mixture using a strainer and a teaspoon to remove the rests of the rice.

Seihe die Mischung durch ein Sieb ab. Die Reste vom Reis kannst du mit einem kleinen Löffel aus dem Sieb entfernen.

4:     Fill your rice milk into a bottle or a jar. You can keep it in the fridge for 2-3 days!

Fülle die fertige Reismilch in eine Flasche oder ein Glas. Sie hält sich 2 – 3 Tage im Kühlschrank!

Wasn’t that super easy?! Rice milk is quite flavourless, but I like the consistency. If you want to have it more liquid, just add some water. If you want it to be more sweet, you can add sugar when cooking the rice or you add some agave nectar at the end. I leave it without any sweetening as it is absolutely ok with cereals and/ord fruits!

Das ist doch wirklich super einfach, oder?! Reismilch hat keinen großartigen Eigengeschmack, aber ich mag die Konsistenz sehr gern! Wenn du die Milch flüssiger haben möchtest, gib einfach mehr Wasser zu. Solltest du sie süßer mögen, kannst du entweder während des Kochens Zucker zugeben oder am Ende Agavendicksaft. Ich habe keinerlei Süßstoff verwendet, da ich die Milch mit Früchten oder Müsli auch ohne perfekt finde!

Let’s have a look, how to make milk out of oats, which has a great taste and which is my favourite one – this time I added some cinnamon and vanilla to give it even more flavour and it is just perfect for breakfast!

Weiter geht’s … jetzt kommen wir zur Hafermilch, die schon einen leckeren Eigengeschmack hat und die mein Favorit ist! Diesmal habe ich beim Kochen eine Zimstange und das Mark einer Vanilleschote zugegeben und ich liebe das Ergebnis!

Oat-Milk-Ingredients

The preparation of oat milk actually is the same as for rice milk. For 750ml I used half a glass of oats and cooked them with twice the amount of water (in my case one full glass). Of course the cooking time for oats is less then the one for rice so I removed the pot from the cooker after 7 minutes. Then I added one more glass of water and blended the mixture with the hand mixer until very smooth. In a final step I straint the oat milk and filled it in a bottle – also this one can be kept in the fridge for 2 – 3 days!

Die Zubereitung von Hafermilch ist die gleiche wie die der Reismilch. Für 750ml habe ich ein halbes Glas Haferflocken verwendet, die ich mit der doppelten Menge an Wasser gekocht hat (in meinem Fall also ein volles Glas Wasser). Die Garzeit von Haferflocken ist natürlich geringer als die von Reis, ich habe den Tops also nach ca. 7 Minuten von der Kochstelle genommen und 1 weiteres Glas Wasser zugegeben. Dann habe ich die Mischung sehr fein püriert, abgesiebt und in eine Flasche gefüllt – auch die Hafermilch hält sich für 2 – 3 Tage im Kühlschrank.

As I told you before, this time I added some cinnamon and vanilla while cooking the oats, this is why the milk has a darker color. Also for the oat milk I did not use any sweetener.

Wie gesagt, habe ich beim Kochen eine Zimstange und das Mark einer halben Vanilleschote zugegeben, daher hat die Milch eine dunklere Farbe bekommen. Auch für die Hafermilch habe ich keinerlei Süßstoff verwendet.

Now it’s your turn! Go to the kitchen, take the ingredients and in 30 minutes you will have 2 kinds of milk without lactose and only with ingredients you know! There will not be any any strange “E’s” in there, no antidegradants and sweetener only if you want it – of course you should chose good products regarding rice and oats!

Jetzt seid ihr dran! Ab in die Küche, die Zutaten herausgesucht und in 30 Minuten habt ihr 2 verschiedene Milch-Arten ohne Laktose und nur mit Zutaten die ihr kennt! Keine komischen “E’s” in der Milch, keine Konservierungsstoffe und Süßstoff nur wenn ihr ihn wollt – natürlich solltet ihr beim Einkaufen darauf achten, hochwertigen Reis und Haferflocken zu kaufen!

I read that is also possible to use these kinds milk for baking and cooking, but this is something I still did not do – try out the recipes and let me know, which one is your favourite! Or do you prefer products like almond milk or hazelnut milk? Curious to hear your opinions!

Julia loves … MissJenFabulous {Nail Art Tutorials & Inspiration}

Buongiorno a tutti, a happy hello to all of you!

I don’t know if it is only me, but in January I sometimes feel some kind of “emptiness” in my head regarding home decoration, fashion and so on … Christmas passed by, it is still wintertime but everybody wants the summer to come. I do not want to have snowflakes all over anymore, but it is still too early to exchange them with starfish…

Do you know what I do in these moments?! I just don’t mind that it is still January and bring some color in my life – preferably on my nails!

Who knows me knows also that I am a nail polish junkie! I love to change the color of my nails every 2-3 days and the period when I could not use bright colors on my nails while I was working was really hard! I even have a little obsession: The nail polish has to be the same on fingers and toes and it has to match with the color of my clothes. I am able to re-paint my nails just because the color does not fit with the dress I want to wear! But let’s not talk too much about my obessions… ;)

What I want to recommend to you today, is the blog and the YouTube Channel of Jenny Fox, known as MissJenFabulous. She does some of the best and easiest nail art tutorials I’ve ever seen and nearly all of her creations can also be used if your nails are quite short!

I found nicestthings.com when I was searching for some interior inspiration in 2012 to give a marine touch to our home. The idea to use an old paddle as decoration was perfect and I loved the Eastcoast-Style Vera used for her living room in this time!

From this first contact with her blog I started following her and every post was a new surprise! I do not know any other blog that is that stylish, that professional and especially: that funny! She has a very particular, very friendly and honest way to write about her ideas and her life and she can absolutely laugh about herself – I think it is this balance between the professional photography, the perfectionism of the posts and  the great humor on the other handside that makes her blog this particular and attractive!

One of her latest posts that really made me laugh out loudly was this one, about a beautiful dress she bought – I still do not understand why she does not write columns for magazines and newspapers!

Julia loves … Project Life by Becky Higgins {03}

Already when I was a child I loved taking photos and I remember the excitement when we went to the shop to finally see them! Then, together with my Mom, we created nice photo books that are still a beautiful memory of all the lovely things we lived to see!

When the age of digital photography started, I got to know Photoshop and I started “playing” with it. But there were still 2 times a year I went to the shop and printed the best photos of the last months – I just love to have them in front of me, to put them in frames in the house or to create scrapbooks as memories and presents for family and friends!

A really nice idea to create fantastic and really good looking photo-memories is “Project Life” from Becky Higgins. The first time I heard of it was when I read this post from Stef from magnoliaelectric. I was really enthusiastic about this concept of photos and comments together with colorful “filler cards”. The only thing that stopped me from ordering the basic kit immediately was the price that is quite high. So I was more than happy to hear that they plan to create an App and … tadaaaaaaaaa … here it is!

This app is perfect for everybody who loves photos and who loves creating nice collages out of them! You passed a nice day with your family and friends? Just put the best pics together in one Project Life Page and send it to them, they will be on top of the world! The App is really easy to use. When you open it for the first time there is a tutorial, but it is also self-explanatory – just decide which design of the page you would like to use, then choose the photos and the filler cards:

Julia loves … flowers on her way! {02}

Buongiorno,

you know, there is one thing I really do NOT have: The “green thumb” or “grüner Daume” as we call it in Germany or “pollice verde” in Italy. I would like to have many plants and flowers in my home but it is simply impossible! I am one of the persons that even kill a cactus! So I think my thumb is not green, but deep black…

And when I saw these flower pots on nicestthings.com, I knew: I MUST HAVE THEM! Once I am in love with something I just cannot wait, I have to have it immediately and so I took a look around and saw my IKEA flower pots…simply white ones…and perfect for a little DIY:

I just took one of these sharpie markers for porcelain and did them myself – and here we go:

Ok, I do not know how long these two guys will survive … but at the moment they seem to be fine! ;)

Nevertheless I really love flowers and I cannot take enough pictures of the beautiful plants and flowers we have here in Calabria! I remember some of them when I saw them in the shops in Germany and they were really expensive – and here in Southern Italy they are just like weed on the streets, incredible!

Walking around with Iron of course I see a lot of them and I always have to stop and take some pics … here we go … enjoy #floowersonmyway!

Enjoy your life – #100HappyDays

Buongiorno and a happy hello to all of you!

Have you ever had one of these days in which the universe seems to be against you? You get up and the first thing that happens is that you hit the bed with your knee – ouch! Then you have breakfast and the bread falls down, you miss the train that should bring you to work, your boss is hysterical the whole day and so on and so forth…

I think everybody of us has these days once in a while and it is also normal to have them, BUT: You do not have to live in a bad mood for the whole day … just search for the little moments of happiness and bring them in the foreground! Your boss is unsupportable?? But did you notice that your arrogant colleague was really nice to you today? You missed the train, but did you notice that you saw an amazing landscape while using the bus that takes another routing? There is ALWAYS something nice, lovely, fantastic in your day, in EVERY day – you just have to see it!

I think it is a perfect activity to become more positive in your life, and according to the info on the website persons that finished the challenge really feel much better during their everyday life!

They become more optimistic, they are in a better mood every day, they even start receiving more compliments from other people and of course they realize how lucky they are to have the life they live in! I, for myself can confirm that thinking more about the happy sides of life, also just searching for the photo to post, makes you recognize how good your life is and how many fantastic things we just see as “normal” things instead of enjoying them at 100% as they are special!
